Is this right for you?
Signs All-on-X could help
All-on-X may be right for you if:
- You're missing most of your teeth on the top or bottom
- Your dentures slip, rub, or need glue
- Many of your teeth are broken or failing
- You skip foods you love
- You hide your smile in photos
When something else may be better
If you're only missing one or a few teeth, a single implant or a bridge may be better. You also need enough bone for the implants. Our 3D X-ray shows us that.
What to expect
4 simple steps
- 3D X-ray & planWe take a 3D X-ray and plan where each implant goes.
- Place the implantsWe place 4 to 6 implants in your jaw. Teeth that can't be saved come out first.
- Heal with temporary teethYou may get a set of temporary teeth to wear while you heal.
- Get your final teethAfter you heal, we fix your strong, custom final teeth in place.
All-on-X: the details
All-on-X is a way to replace a whole row of teeth. Instead of one implant for every tooth, a full set of teeth is held by just 4 to 6 implants. The new teeth are fixed in place, so they don't come out like dentures do.
You may also hear it called All-on-4 or All-on-6. The number is how many implants hold your teeth. We'll tell you how many you need.
All-on-X vs. dentures
All-on-X
- Stays in place
- No glue
- Bite and chew more foods
- Helps keep your jawbone strong
Dentures
- Come out at night
- Can slip or rub
- May need glue
- Bone can shrink over time
How it's done
First, we take a 3D X-ray to check your bone and plan each implant. On the day of your procedure, any teeth that can't be saved are taken out, and the implants are placed. You may get a temporary set of teeth to wear while you heal. Over a few months, the bone grows around the implants. Then we make your final teeth and fix them in place.
Caring for your new teeth
Brush twice a day. Clean under your new teeth with a water flosser. And come in for regular checkups and cleanings, so your implants stay healthy.
FAQ
Common questions about All-on-X
Is All-on-X the same as All-on-4?
It's the same idea. All-on-4 uses 4 implants. All-on-X means we use the number that's right for you, usually 4 to 6.
Does it hurt?
We numb the area well first. You'll be sore for a few days after, and we'll help you manage it.
Can I eat normally?
You'll eat soft foods while you heal. After that, most people can eat most foods again.
How long will it last?
With good care, the implants can last many years. The teeth on top may need repairs or replacing over time.
How much does it cost?
It depends on how many teeth you're replacing and what you need. We'll go over the cost at your visit, and we offer ways to pay over time.
Can I use my dental insurance?
Some plans cover part of it. Tell us your plan when you book. We check it for you before you come.
