Signs veneers could help
Talk to your dentist about veneers if:
- Your teeth are stained, and whitening hasn't fixed it
- Your teeth are chipped or broken
- You have spaces between your teeth
- Your teeth are a bit crooked or oddly shaped
- Your teeth look worn down or uneven in size
When something else may be better
If a tooth has a cavity or your gums need care, we fix that first. If you only need a small chip fixed, bonding may be quicker and cost less. If your teeth are very crooked, braces or aligners may be the better choice. We'll tell you honestly what fits.

Porcelain vs. composite veneers
Veneers are thin shells made just for you. They cover the front of your teeth so they look better. They are the same color as teeth. They can fix teeth that are stained or worn down. They can also change the shape or size of a tooth.
Porcelain
- Lasts longer
- Resists stains better
- Looks very much like a natural tooth
- Made in a lab, usually two visits
Composite resin
- Applied directly to your teeth
- Not made in a lab
- Usually doesn't last as long
- Costs less
How porcelain veneers are done
Porcelain veneers take about two visits. At the first visit, three things happen. First, we trim a small part of the front of the tooth. This makes room for the veneer. Second, we copy the exact shape of your tooth. A lab uses it to make your veneer. Third, you may get a temporary veneer. It keeps your tooth safe while the lab makes the real one.
At the second visit, we take off the temporary veneer if you have one. Then we try on your new veneer to check the fit. It is best to make any changes now, before it goes on for good. When you and the dentist like how it looks and feels, we bond it to your tooth.
FAQ
Common questions about veneers
Can I use my dental insurance?
Yes. Tell us your plan when you book. We check it for you before you come.
What if I don't have insurance?
No problem. Lots of our patients don't have it. We'll go over your options with you, including ways to pay over time. That way you can fix things now instead of waiting until they get worse.
Do veneers hurt?
We numb the area first. Most people feel pushing, not pain. Your teeth may feel a little sore for a few days after.
Can I whiten my veneers later?
No. Whitening doesn't change the color of veneers. If you want whiter teeth overall, we whiten your natural teeth first and then match the veneers to that shade.
Veneers or bonding: which is better?
Bonding is quick and costs less, and it's great for a small chip or gap. Porcelain veneers last longer and resist stains better, so they're often the better choice for a bigger change. We'll help you pick.
